Our Cambridge A level Sociology course covers a wide range of topics and allows students to examine social and cultural habits, behaviours and attitudes whilst gaining insight into the key elements that underpin human existence.

The topics covered in this course often relate closely to current affairs and will stimulate awareness and understanding of contemporary social, cultural and political issues.

Syllabus and exams

This course will prepare students for the Cambridge A level Sociology syllabus 9699.

Exams take place in March (India & Romania only), June and November.

Course advice

In order to study this Cambridge A level Sociology course we would recommend that students have achieved at least the following grades at IGCSE (or equivalent level):

  • First Language English (C or 4) or Second Language (A or 7), Maths (C or 4).
  • The recommended IELTS equivalent is IELTS 6.0/6.5.

Our AS course will take approximately 250 hours of study. Our full A level course will take appropriately 500 hours of study. Both AS and A level courses will require extra time for preparation of the assignments and revision at the end of the course.
