Cambridge A level History

The Cambridge A level History course is a flexible and wide-ranging course, covering modern history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Students will be required to analyse important historical events, learn about the consequences and apply this knowledge to better understand current affairs while learning valuable lessons for the future.

How our courses work

Syllabus and exams

This course will prepare students for the Cambridge A level History syllabus 9489.

Exams take place in March (India & Romania only), June and November.

Course advice

In order to study this Cambridge A level History course we would recommend that students have achieved at least the following grades at IGCSE (or equivalent level):

  • History (B or 6), First Language English (C or 4), Maths (C or 4).
  • The recommended IELTS equivalent is IELTS 7.0/7.5.

Our AS course will take approximately 250 hours of study. Our full A level course will take appropriately 500 hours of study. Both AS and A level courses will require extra time for preparation of the assignments and revision at the end of the course.
