The Cambridge A level English Literature course will teach students to confidently approach the analysis of texts from a range of different genres, eras and cultures.

Analytical skills are central to this subject, and students will learn how to identify key literary and linguistic features while also learning to incorporate critical viewpoints into their essays.

Syllabus and exams

The course prepares students for the Cambridge A level English Literature Syllabus 9695.

Exams take place in March (India & Romania only), June and November.

Course advice

We would recommend that students have achieved at least the following grades at IGCSE (or equivalent level):

  • English Literature (B or 6), First Language English (C or 4) and Maths (C or 4).
  • The recommended IELTS equivalent is IELTS 7.0/7.5.

Our AS course will take approximately 250 hours of study. Our full A level course will take appropriately 500 hours of study. Both AS and A level courses will require extra time for preparation of the assignments and revision at the end of the course.
