St Margaret's School

St Margaret’s School in London, UK, turned to Wolsey Hall to expand the IGCSE subjects they were able to offer to their independent school of girls aged 4-16.

Discovering Wolsey Hall

“Two years ago, one of our pupils had completed IGCSE Latin with Wolsey Hall so we initially became aware of the homeschooling college and how it worked then,” explains Mark Webster, Principal at St Margaret’s School. “The demand grew from students for a Computer Science course and we lacked the staff availability to offer this subject. We thought once again of Wolsey Hall and approached them about offering their IGCSE Computer Science to our pupils.”

“It’s been really useful seeing the students’ skills grow. One of our pupils is disorganised but is working through the course at a great pace as she loves it. We see them all develop in independence in terms of their learning.”

“Being able to expand our offering in the future is a huge positive for us. From a school point of view, we have learnt we need a teacher on site with some skills in the subject who can offer support but the rest is handled by Wolsey Hall. We’ll look at introducing additional subjects if the demand is there from parents and students.”

Working with Wolsey Hall in this way is great as we don’t have to add these things to the timetable which is a real problem. The course enables students to work independently in their own time. We offer weekly catch-up sessions to our pupils to go through what they have been learning and offer support that way. The communication between Wolsey Hall, us and the students has been excellent and, as a small school, we have appreciated not having to mark the assignments and give feedback.
